For large and complex GIS installation projects, such as those with numerous connection units, high installation heights, limited space, and proximity to live equipment, specialized construction plans must be developed in advance, and on-site safety management strengthened to address the challenges posed by high-precision process requirements and complex construction environments.

 

For example, during the GIS installation process at the 330 kV Lintong North Substation, a core power node of the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed ​​Railway scheduled for commissioning in 2026, the Electrical Project Department of Shaanxi Power Transmission and Transformation Engineering Co., Ltd. has been operating under a "map-based operation" approach since the start of construction this year. This involves coordinating the efforts of the owner, supervisor, and equipment manufacturer, closely monitoring equipment production scheduling and logistics to ensure the precise arrival of long-lead-time equipment such as GIS in batches. The project department adopted a "zoning management" strategy, separating the GIS installation area from other voltage level areas to achieve "zero interference" during cross-construction. Meanwhile, detailed planning and management were implemented through methods such as "map-based operations" and daily progress checks, saving time for subsequent commissioning. During construction, over 40 safety inspections were conducted, and more than 60 potential hazards were rectified, achieving the goal of "zero accidents."

 

Also in 2026, the installation of GIS equipment in the Shijiazhuang Gaoyi County 300 MW/600 MWh independent energy storage power station project was strictly controlled to within 0.5 mm deviation, and all procedures passed acceptance on the first attempt.

The GIS equipment was installed in a dust-free environment by the State Grid Wenling Power Supply Company team.
